Photo Section

An additional membership option for SVAS members is membership of the Photo Section. The aim of the Section is to foster interest in aircraft photography; members are encouraged to submit photographs for publicity purposes and publication in the SVAS Magazine Prop- Swing. SVAS members pay a small addition (currently £10) to their SVAS membership fee and benefit from free access to the flight line walk on each flying day (on production of their SVAS membership card at the tent next to the control tower), up to half an hour before the show begins.

The annual photograph competition is open to members only and consists of two categories:

1. An aircraft in flight at Old Warden and
2. A ground activity also at Old Warden.

Prizes are £60 for 1st, £30 for 2nd and £15 for 3rd in each of the above categories. Each member can enter up to six mounted prints in each category, at an entry fee of £2 per print. Full details are sent to each member by newsletter.

3. Ken Cates Memorial Shield

In memory of Ken Cates, this competition is judged by Jean Kates and the winner receives the Shield to hold for the year. There is no entry fee and up to three mounted prints can be entered.
