Car Workshop Update
Story added 10th March 2009 by Fred
It has been nearly twelve months since I updated these notes. So what has been
going on recently?.
Our winter programme for 2009 is progressing nicely. Last year was taken up by the major jobs eg engine, gearbox and transmission, on the Wolseley, Crossley and The De Dietrich. Having said that we have been left with the T.L.C. jobs and the completion to our restoration projects.
As stated in my last report we were donated a 1935
Added to that list we now have a B.S.A Bant
am, which is going through the same process and should be running in our parades this year.
The Mors Petit Duc has been out on parade during 2008, a run which has not been seen for quite a few years. Congratulations must go to two of our dedicated volunteers who completed this project.
The work force, if it can be called that, (all volunteers) have in total 22 cars, 17 Motorbikes and approximately 8 carriages to look after, this of course involves scheduled work and also running repairs throughout the year, This does not include the flying day parades and special events that the Collection have arranged. A fairly heavy load not counting the unfortunate failures and maintenance.
The Collection here is a member of The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) and again as in previous years are having a “Drive it Day” (DID)
On 26th April 2009. Any members of the public are welcome on this DID day so id you are taking part in this event, the Collection has ample parking and is offering a group rate to participants of £& per person.
The first display on the 3rd May will see Richard Shuttleworth’s Alfa Romeo P3 Monoposta attending, a rare sight indeed, come along and see.
That’s all for now, my new years resolution was to keep this newsletter up to date, only time will tell
